A shorter route

A small software development team

The details do not pass through three sales meetings before they reach the person writing the code.

A developer reads the enquiry. We ask how the process works now, where it fails and what has already been tried. If a product already solves it, we say so. If the fit is the problem, we write down what a custom software development project must do.

  1. 01 You explain the problem No technical brief needed
  2. 02 We map the process Rules, users, data and gaps
  3. 03 The same team builds it No hand-off to a mystery department

How we make decisions

How we run software projects

They are simple rules. They rule out bad projects early.

  1. 01

Use the product if it fits

Shopify, WordPress and a good SaaS tool beat a custom build when they already do the job. Bespoke software earns its place when workarounds have become part of the process.

  2. 02

    Write the rules down first

Screens are the easy part. Permissions, exceptions, old data and the systems around it decide whether software works. The scope records those rules before the build starts. Our guide explains how to write a software specification.

  3. 03

    Set ownership clearly

A wholly new codebase belongs to the client. A Zeus build uses our CMS under licence, while its separate frontend package belongs to the client.
